The short answer

STARTRADER is a forex and CFD broker that describes itself as a network of licensed entities rather than one company. Its own legal block names six: an ASIC-regulated company in Australia (AFSL 421210), an FSCA-regulated one in South Africa (FSP 52464), an FSA Seychelles company (SD049), an FSC Mauritius company (GB24203371), a CMA-licensed UAE company that is expressly not authorised to execute client trades, and a Cyprus company that expressly does not provide trading services. No Indian regulator appears anywhere on that list. Two live account types are offered: Standard, quoted from 1.3 pips with no commission except on indices, and ECN, quoted from 0.0 pips with a commission per lot; the minimum volume on both is 0.01 lots, and account currencies are AUD, CAD, EUR, GBP, USD and NZD — the rupee is not among them. Everything below comes from the broker’s own pages and from the Reserve Bank of India, with the date each was read.

01 · The network

What STARTRADER is and how the network is built

STARTRADER is a forex and CFD broker, but the brand does not describe itself as a single company. Its regulator block calls it “the brand representing a network of regulated and licensed entities across various jurisdictions”, and adds the sentence that matters most to a new client: “Upon registration, you will be assigned to the appropriate entity based on your location”. Whichever company that turns out to be is your counterparty — the one named in your agreement, holding your account and answering your complaints.

Six companies are named. Four hold retail licences: STARTRADER Prime Global Pty Ltd under ASIC (AFSL 421210), STARTRADER International Pty Ltd under South Africa’s FSCA (FSP 52464), STARTRADER Limited under the FSA of Seychelles (SD049) and STARTRADER Financial Markets Limited under Mauritius’s FSC (GB24203371). The UAE company holds a Category 5 CMA licence, and the broker states it “is not authorised to provide brokerage services or execute client trades”. The Cyprus company “does not offer regulated financial products or provide trading services”.

That is why the front page advertises “5 REGULATIONS” for six companies. Your agreement tells you which of the six you have joined — read it before funding. Every licence, line by line

02 · Accounts and costs

Two account types and what they actually cost

There are two live accounts and a free demo. Standard runs on an STP model: spreads quoted “as low as 1.3 pips”, no commission per trade except on indices, No Dealing Desk execution and negative balance protection. ECN is pitched at high-volume traders and money managers: spreads “as low as 0.0 pips” plus a commission per lot.

Everything else is shared. The minimum volume is 0.01 lot on both, execution is at market, MT4 allows up to 2,000 open and pending orders and MT5 sets no limit. Hedging, expert advisors, one-click trading, round-the-clock trading and a personal manager are listed for both. Account currencies: AUD, CAD, EUR, GBP, USD and NZD.

Two numbers are missing, and we say so rather than fill them in. The broker publishes no minimum deposit — its accounts FAQ only notes that minimums “can range from $5-$10 at some brokers to $100 or even more at others”. Leverage is described as “flexible”, “subject to terms and regulatory guidelines”, with no ratio. Anyone quoting a STARTRADER minimum deposit or leverage figure is not quoting the broker.

03 · Login and portal

Logging in and what the client portal holds

Most searches for STARTRADER are login searches, and the answer is that there are two separate doors. The client portal lives at myaccount.startrader.com: your trading accounts, funding, withdrawals, verification documents and the switch to demo sit there. In the broker’s words, “you have your own secure client portal, where you can access all your funding and withdrawal needs”, and the deposit link sits “on the left side of the page”.

MT4 and MT5 are the second door. The terminal asks for the trading account number and its own password — not your portal email and password. Partners in the IB programme have a separate access route of their own.

Signing up takes three steps as the broker lists them: register, verify your identity — “depending on your country, we’ll verify your identity with your ID documents” — then deposit and trade. Verification needs two separate documents: a valid photo ID and a proof of address under three months old, shown in full, with the same name and address as your application. The client portal, step by step

04 · Cashier

Money in and money out

The funding page names bank wire transfer, Visa and Mastercard, and online wallets including StickPay, Perfect Money and Wise. The broker says “we do not charge any fees for depositing funds” and none for withdrawals “in most countries” — but an international wire fee of about USD 20 is passed on to the client.

Bank transfers take 3–5 business days in either direction and are credited only once the money actually arrives. Withdrawals have two cut-offs: requests received after 21:00 GMT are handled the next day, those received before 07:30 GMT the same day. Money goes back only to a bank account in the account holder’s own name, or a joint one.

For a reader in India, two facts belong together. The rupee is not one of the six account currencies, so a payment from an Indian bank is converted by the provider at its own rate. And no Indian local payment method appears on the broker’s public pages. Funding and withdrawals in detail

05 · Ratings and guarantees

The six ratings on the front page, examined

Under the heading “Highly Praised By Global Media” the front page shows six scores: 4.8/5, 4.5/5, 4.6/5, 4.6/5, 9.22/10 and 85/100. Only one carries a name — Trustpilot. The page does not say who gave the other five, how many reviews stand behind them, over what period, or whether they are updated. Until it does, they are a claim by the company, and we do not repeat them as findings.

Two mechanisms are easier to check because the broker describes them itself. STARTRADER is a member of the Financial Commission, where “each eligible client who meets the claim criteria may receive a maximum compensation of up to 20,000 euros”. The same broker page quotes the commission’s own status: it “is not regulated by or registered with as an EDR body in any jurisdiction”. Separately, a Lloyd’s EOL insurance policy is described as providing “up to US$1,000,000 in coverage”.

06 · India

India: what is verifiable and what is not

Two facts can be checked, and neither amounts to a verdict. First: no Indian regulator appears in the broker’s list of entities. The Android app on Google Play is published by STARTRADER INTERNATIONAL PTY LIMITED, the South African company, while the Mauritius licensee is STARTRADER Financial Markets Limited. Which company takes an Indian client is decided by the “based on your location” rule and written into the agreement at registration.

Second: the Reserve Bank of India’s FAQ on the Liberalised Remittance Scheme, dated 06.04.2023, sets a limit of USD 250,000 per financial year and lists purposes the scheme does not cover, including “Remittance from India for margins or margin calls to overseas exchanges / overseas counterparty” and “Remittance for trading in foreign exchange abroad”. The legal frame is the Foreign Exchange Management Act, 1999.

We put the two documents side by side and stop there; what follows from them is for you, and if needed a lawyer, to weigh. The entities and the RBI rules

FAQ

01Who owns STARTRADER?

STARTRADER describes itself as a brand representing a network of entities, and names six: STARTRADER Prime Global Pty Ltd (ASIC, AFSL 421210), STARTRADER International Pty Ltd (FSCA, FSP 52464), STARTRADER Limited (FSA Seychelles, SD049), STARTRADER Financial Markets Limited (FSC Mauritius, GB24203371), STARTRADER Global Financial Consultation & Financial Analysis L.L.C (CMA UAE, licence 20200000241) and STARTRADER (CY) Limited in Cyprus.

02Is STARTRADER regulated in India?

No Indian authority appears in the company’s own regulator information. Its list names the CMA of the UAE, ASIC, the FSCA of South Africa, the FSA of Seychelles and the FSC of Mauritius, and the sixth entity, in Cyprus, states that it does not offer regulated financial products or provide trading services.

03What does a STARTRADER account cost?

Standard is quoted from 1.3 pips with no commission except on indices; ECN is quoted from 0.0 pips with a commission per lot. Minimum trade size on both is 0.01 lots. The broker does not publish a minimum deposit figure or a leverage ratio on its open pages, so anyone quoting one is not quoting the broker.

04Can I fund an account in rupees?

Not as an account currency. The broker lists AUD, CAD, EUR, GBP, USD and NZD as account currency types, and its funding page names bank wire, Visa/Mastercard and wallets such as StickPay, Perfect Money and Wise. No Indian local payment rail is named on its public pages.

05Is STARTRADER safe?

That is not a question the documents answer. What they support is narrower: six named entities with licence numbers you can look up, negative balance protection on both account types, membership of the Financial Commission with compensation of up to 20,000 euros for eligible claims, and a Lloyd’s policy the broker describes as covering up to one million dollars. The broker’s own page also states the Financial Commission is not registered as an EDR body in any jurisdiction.

08 · Verdict

Who STARTRADER suits, on paper

On formal grounds, STARTRADER is for an adult outside the restricted jurisdictions — the United States and FATF-listed countries — who accepts that losses can exceed the deposit. What can be verified: six named entities with licence numbers, the published account parameters, the cashier rules and the app’s store listing. Check which entity your agreement names before you fund.

What stays the company’s claim

Six front-page ratings, five of them without a named source, and the line about being one of the fastest-growing brokerage firms in the world. No minimum deposit, no leverage ratio and no ECN commission figure are published.

18+ · Risk note

In the broker’s own words, trading leveraged derivatives such as forex and CFDs “involves a high level of risk and may result in losses that exceed your initial deposit”. You do not own the underlying asset, and past performance does not predict future results.
